A strategist and storyteller, Billy Otteman leads marketing at Scythe [Sci like “Sci-fi” – th] Robotics – a Boulder-County-based startup pioneering innovation in landscape equipment through M.52 [M-dot.52], their fully autonomous, all-electric robotic mower.

Before joining this engineering-led organization, Billy had an agency-side career leading brand strategy, new product development, and consumer insights work for high profile and multinational brands as wide-ranging as PayPal and Kleenex, Jim Beam and the Catholic Church of Orange County, and Intercontinental Hotel Group and King’s Hawaiian.

Ready to jump client-side but waiting for the right opportunity, it was the vision of Scythe that compelled him to join the company. Now he’s one of the more than 80 team members developing technology that can help us better care for the planet, starting with the industry at the forefront of green space management: commercial landscaping.

As a lawn game fanatic and amateur endurance athlete, Billy spends a great deal of time in outdoor spaces himself and is thrilled to help reinvent how we maintain them.
